In 1997, the Intercity-Connections project was born. The project, a collaboration between the National Theater of London,
the Limonaia and Sesto Idee, was aimed at students between 14 and 18 years of age with the goal of encouraging their interests
in theater and playwriting. Authors of great prestige have been commisioned to create original theatrical works aimed at that
age range; the writers are not asked to create a work “for” adolescents, but are told, “write your next text remembering that
the interpreters will be very young”.
New fresh, fun, intelligent scripts have been born, presented in England to more than 150
groups of adolescents, translated and presented on stage at the Limonaia and the Laboratorio Nove. The schools have received the
works with relief, because finally the teaching body has found in its hands live works, contemporary, adored by their interpreters.
The Intercity Connection anthology (edited by Barbara Nativi and Rodolfo di Giammaro), published in 2004 by Editoria & Spettacolo,
Sesto Idee and Intercity, has spread throughout Italy with the great appreciation of students, critics, and teachers alike.
